Why We Are Different
Theodora Mission began with a family's love for a child with special needs—and the desire for other children in Egypt to receive the care and opportunities they deserve.

That personal beginning still shapes our work. We see the child beyond the diagnosis, and we recognize the family beside them. Our approach connects therapy, learning, transportation, home visits, and family support so that care can become part of everyday life.
Love became a mission
Theodora was born with cerebral palsy. Her family's experience of care in the United States, and the needs they saw in Egypt, inspired a commitment to support other children and their families.
Our mission is rooted in that lived experience. We understand that caring for a child involves patience, practical support, and the hope that their abilities will be recognized. That understanding is at the heart of how we serve.

Care follows the child—not just the diagnosis
Children have different strengths, needs, and ways of learning. Their care should reflect those differences.
Our approach brings therapy, learning, and skills practice together around individual goals. Early intervention, daily-living skills, and vocational learning where appropriate help children work toward greater confidence and participation in everyday life. The aim is meaningful progress shaped around the person, not a single expectation applied to everyone.

Care reaches beyond the center
For children who cannot travel to a center, support needs to reach the home.
Through home visits, trained personnel and social workers provide therapy, guidance, family support, and follow-up care. These visits help families stay connected to the mission and make room for care within the realities of daily life. Support is shaped by the child's needs and the family's circumstances.

Getting there is part of care
A therapy session or learning opportunity can only help when a child can reach it. Transportation is an important part of making center-based support more accessible.
By helping connect homes with our centers, transportation reduces a practical barrier for children and their families. It is part of an approach that considers not only the services a child needs, but also what makes those services possible to attend.
We work through trusted local relationships
Theodora Mission works closely with Coptic Orthodox church leaders and community partners in Egypt. These relationships help connect families with care and keep the mission rooted in the communities it serves.
Our faith calls us to recognize each person's God-given dignity. We put that belief into practice through care, family support, and community. Respect for a person's worth is not dependent on their abilities.
Volunteer leadership and accountability matter
Theodora Mission is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit guided by a volunteer board. Its leadership helps connect the generosity of supporters with the work of caring for children and families in Egypt.
Supporters deserve to understand the mission they are helping sustain. We invite you to learn about our leadership and visit our Financials page for accountability information. If you have questions, please contact us.
