“Every life has value. Every person deserves dignity.”
These words reflect not only the message I shared at the Theodora Gala, but a belief that has guided my faith, my professional journey, and my commitment to serving others.
My connection to Theodora is deeply personal. I will always remember holding baby Theodora in my arms while her mother received Communion. It was a tender and meaningful moment that has stayed with me. Sometimes, the most profound experiences in life are those that touch our hearts and remind us of what truly matters.
The name Theodora means “Gift of God,” a beautiful reminder that every person is a precious gift, deserving of love, respect, dignity, and the opportunity to live a meaningful life. As Psalm 139:14 reminds us, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Every individual has inherent worth and deserves to be recognized, respected, and embraced for who they are.
Throughout more than 30 years of leadership in pharmacy, healthcare, and human services, I have learned that our true impact is measured not simply by what we accomplish, but by how we treat others, how we serve those who need us, and whether we help people feel seen, valued, and included.
As an advocate for individuals with different abilities, I believe our responsibility extends beyond awareness. It calls us to action: to champion inclusion, create opportunities, support families, and ensure that every individual is recognized for their inherent worth and potential.
My faith reinforces this calling. Matthew 25:40 reminds us that what we do for others, particularly those who are most vulnerable, we do for Christ. Compassion is not merely a feeling; it is a responsibility expressed through our actions.
I am continually inspired by the strength, perseverance, and unconditional love of families who advocate for their loved ones every day. Their journeys remind us of the importance of standing beside them, strengthening their voices, and building a community where no individual or family feels alone.
The mission of Theodora reminds us that each of us has a role to play. Through giving, prayer, advocacy, awareness, and meaningful action, we can help create a more compassionate and inclusive world.
As I shared at the gala, leadership is ultimately about purpose, service, and the difference we make in the lives of others. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as an ambassador and advocate for this mission and to encourage others to join in supporting individuals with different abilities.
As I believe, “True leadership is not measured by the titles we hold, but by the lives we touch, the dignity we uphold, and the love we put into action.”
May we never measure a person’s worth by their abilities, but instead recognize the dignity, promise, and God-given value within every individual.
Together, through faith, compassion, and action, we can ensure that every life is valued, every voice matters, and every person has the opportunity to belong.
With gratitude and a continued commitment to the mission of Theodora.
